Engine Company Officer (Captain) Wanted

The WILTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT seeks persons who would like to serve in the capacity of Engine Company Officer (Fire Captain).

This position advertised is not a full-time position.

Working under the direction of the on-duty shift Duty Officer, the Engine Company Officer (Captain) supervises and oversees all emergency and routine tasks required of the on-duty shift. This includes, but is not limited to: fire suppression, emergency medical services, public services, shift training, routine maintenance, and district objectives. The position allows a career firefighter/engineer the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and in-sight for future promotional opportunities within the fire service.

Minimum requirements for Engine Company Officer are:

  1. State of California, Certified Firefighter 1.
  2. California Emergency Medical Technician-Basic.
  3. 3 years experience as a full time, (paid firefighter).
  4. Fire Command 1A and 1B Certification.
  5. California Commercial Class B Drivers License.
  6. Instructor 1A/1B are desirable, (but not required).

Firefighters Wanted

These positions advertised are not full-time positions.

The WILTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT seeks persons who would like to serve as Resident Firefighter or Shift Firefighter (persons who reside in WFPD boundaries may serve in both capacities).

Minimum requirements for Shift Firefighters are:
  1. State of California, State Fire Marshal’s Office, Firefighter 1 Skills Package, OR an approved Firefighter Academy.
  2. California Emergency Medical Technician-Basic.
  3. Willing to work a minimum of 1 -24 hour shift per week.
  4. Good health.
  5. Minimum of 18 years of age.
  6. Obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers License within 6 months of start date.
 Desired Qualification for Shift Firefighters:
  1. State of California, Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Fire Fighter 1
Shift Firefighter Filing date: We are not currently accepting applications. Our next application process is tentatively scheduled for February 2008.

Minimum requirements for Resident Firefighters are:
  1. Must reside within the boundaries of the WFPD.
  2. Willing to be on call 24 hours a day.
  3. Good health.
  4. Willing to attend scheduled drills (there are 3 drills a month: one on a Saturday morning, one on a Tuesday evening, and one on a Thursday evening).
  5. Minimum of 18 years of age.
Resident Firefighter Filing Date: Resident Firefighter applications will continue to be accepted on a year round basis.

Desired requirements for Resident Firefighters:
  1. State of California, State Fire Marshal’s Office, Firefighter 1 Skills Package
  2. California Emergency Medical Technician- 1 Basic.
