The Wilton Fire Protection District is a team-oriented organization that consists of one staffed fire station, two resident volunteer fire stations, three full-time captains and a combination of volunteer firefighters as well as resident volunteer firefighters. The District provides fire suppression and emergency medical assistance to residents located within its 59 -square-mile boundary. Adding volunteer members to our staffing is extremely vital to the success of our District.

JOB OBJECTIVES:

Assists in Suppression of fires, rescue and lifesaving operations; responds to emergency medical calls and renders first aid; handles fire streams and other fire service equipment in suppression of fires; performs daily maintenance of stations, quarters, apparatus and equipment; makes required equipment checks; assists in putting apparatus and equipment back in readiness for other emergencies; attends scheduled mandatory training drills; performs other duties as assigned.

The Wilton Fire Protection District will provide a per shift monetary stipend.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fire Academy Completion or California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I Certificate
  • Attended and successfully completed an approved Firefighter Academy
  • California Emergency Medical Technician-Basic
  • Willing to work a minimum of one (1) twenty-four (24) hour shift per week
  • Attend mandatory monthly training sessions
  • Must be in good health
  • Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
  • Valid California Driver’s License

JOB OBJECTIVES:

Providing hands on experience for individuals that want to start training for a career in the fire service.

  • Ability to attend 24 hour shifts to obtain hands on training in fire and emergency medical service
  • Attend the monthly Training Drill
  • 18 years old
  • Must be in good health

  • Must be open-minded and willing to learn

JOB OBJECTIVES:

The Wilton Fire Protection District is seeking Licensed Paramedics to work one 24-hour shift per week and we will provide you training for a California State Firefighter 1 Certificate. The Wilton Fire Protection District will provide $100.00 stipend per 24-hour shift and provide a networking of firefighters for upcoming opportunities.

  • Hold a current and valid Paramedic License
  • Must be currently employed as Paramedic
  • Must be in good health
  • Hold a current and valid California Driver’s License
  • Must be open-minded and willing to learn
  • Work one 24-hour shift per week for 12 months
  • Act as an Engine Company Paramedic on emergency calls while on duty

JOB OBJECTIVES:

Resident Firefighter Filing Date: Resident Firefighter applications will continue to be accepted on a year-round basis.

Desired requirements for Resident Firefighters:

  1. State of California, State Fire Marshal Office, Firefighter 1 or Academy completion
  2. California Emergency Medical Technician-1 Basic.
  • Must reside within the boundaries of the Wilton Fire Protection District
  • Willing to be on call 24 hours a day
  • Good health
  • Must be willing to attend scheduled drills
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Valid California Driver’s License
